Title: Count down to Timmonsville has begun
Post by: bubbaqgal on September 04, 2006, 04:40:50 PM
Ok, folks, the countdown has begun.  It is just a month until all you bus dudes and dudettes are headed to T'ville.  We are really getting excited about seeing old friends and getting to know the friends we haven't met yet.  I know Dallas has told you guys about bringing your old bus parts 'n stuff but tell your wives...right this minute.....don't wait until you forget... that they can bring yard sale stuff also.  Anything goes.  If you want to bring it to sell, and it ain't illegal, then bring it on.  Crafts, baked goods, used household stuff, whatever you wanna get rid of.  And no, you CANNOT sell spouses or children.  If you need a table for your stuff, bring your own since the campground doesn't have many.  The deadline for getting your cheaper registration is almost upon us and the spots with power are almost gone so if you haven't paid your registration or reserved your spot, then please get that form filled out and in the mail to us ASAP.  I would love to know how many kids will be here because I would like to make special plans for them if we have enough.  Also, the kids will all be getting door prizes so I want to be sure I have enough on hand.   Also, if you could let me know the ages of the kids so I can find age appropriate gifts.  I know you have been told we are having blue grass and gospel bands but if any of you play, even if badly, bring your instruments and join  in with the pickin' and grinin'.  Pets are welcome here, on leashes, but I will warn you.....I'm gonna be Aunt Cat to all of em and will do my best to spoil them (if you haven't already)  BYOB, because the beer man won't be attending this rally. If you have any questions, let us know.  Cat ;D
Also, if anyone has a large size coffee pot, we would appreciate your bringing it.

Cat, Susan and I will bring a large size coffe pot with us. It's a 40 cup size. Is that big enough?

Also, Cliff, are we still on for travelling together? When will you be leaving. You know you'll have to wait for me to get to where your at before you leave! :)

As for pets? Mine is being spoiled. I just got him from the pound or he just got me from home, whichever fits best but he can always stand more spoiling!

Beer? Aw come on! You mean I have to bring my own Cronies? Do I have to ice them down too?

Bluegrass? Uh, Susan plays a little bluegrass fiddle and I gave up for the time being on my Mandolin since my arm hurt too much.

Ace... who is  looking forward to it!

Well, 40 cups might get Dallas by until noon!!!   Seriously, thought, a 40 cup pot will be great.  Thanks a bunch for bringing it.  No, you don't have to ice them down.........you can drink 'em hot.  LOL.  I think we can manage the ice just this once.  You tell your baby that his Aunt Cat is waiting to meet him.  He sounds like a super lucky fellow as do you for adopting him.  We just got another cat.  Poor Dallas, surrounded by 3 4 legged cats and one 2 legged one.  He has us all 4 spoiled rotten.  Tell Susan to bring her fiddle.  Everyone is welcome to play, sing, dance and, since it goes along with being a bus nut, tell those whoppers.

Yo Cat!  You gotta get the Timmonsville thingy posted on the NJT and MCI sites.   I got some Pmail asking about the event.
I'm bringing my self....that qualifies as one "child" per Terri.   What am I gonna get?  HMMMMMM?
Looking forward to seeing ya'll!
Tell Dallas that I'm bringing him some mufflers for fun or profit...his.  He can have them to do whatever his little heart desires!
See ya'll soon!  JR

Cat, when I told jackie about the gals' Fleas Market I realized that I just put a steak in front of a hungry Tiger!

She'll be running around this house for the next month filling boxes and I'll need a bay stretcher by the time we leave.

It'll probably take a lot of begging and pleading on my part to get her to leave some space for my Cronie's!  Thanks, buddy!

Any possibility of getting some information on the cabins at the campground? What is furnished, what would I need to bring? Any/all information appreciated.

Richard,
The sleeping cabins are just that: sleeping cabins. They have a bed, a light a chair and a window.
For this get together the price is the same as the camping fee... $20/night

There are also some rental campers that are normally set up as long term (weekly/monthly) living space. I'm not sure what they rent for, but will have Cat check and post here. I want to say $25/night, but wouldn't swear to it.

There is a motel across the freeway from us, but their website says the nightly rate is $53-$58/night, which is $10/night more than any place else in the area.
There is another motel, (Swamp Fox), 7 miles up the road that is newer and (I think), cleaner for $29.95/night.
Another option is the local HoJo's or Hampton Inn which run $42.95/night.

If I can help any other way, just let me know!

Dallas

PS, I included the registration form and flyer here too. just click on the links below.

I guess it's hard to tell when you have the lights out so nobody catches, er sees you! :)

By the way, how come you know so much about ALL the rates in and around them parts? Just curious! Aww, just kidding!

Cause it's on the way to Myrtle Beach and they have Billboards EVERYWHERE!

But, then I guess they are better than the "South of the Border" signs!

Dallas, I have some takeout MC9 windows..both pax and a pretty decent orig drivers window.  I realize that you are having a "yard sale" or swap-shop sort of thing, and will donate these thing to you...along with the mufflers.  I just don't want to bring them back. If you want them, consider them yours.  If you sell'em...you're rich for the day!   If you don't want'em, I'm gonna haul them off to the dump...like I've threatened to do for a year now.   :-\
Let me know if you want these things.   It's not a set, but several good windows.  When the bus was skinned, they pulled out all but 7 windows and damaged most of those.  I sawed up the orig frames...but have a couple complete windows, and several more good dark tint takeout glass.
You're the bus guy...I don't know anyone that wants this stuff!
BTW, I found a neat little 24 to 12VDC converter in the ticket box pedestal.  Saw a post the other day about the thing, dug up the old ped and low and behold...nice new looking 13 A @ 12DC converter.  Or whatever they call it?
See ya'll soon!  JR

JR,
Sure, bring lot's of junk, unh, I mean treasures down.
I was going to set up a table with stuff on it and a jar with a slot.
If someone sees something they can use, just pay whatever you think it's worth by putting money in the jar.
After the rally is over, I thought maybe we could contact Craig, (Gumpy), and donate it to Kales school to buy some needed equipment, like graphing calculators.

By the way if any one is interested, Kale is in 3rd place right now and only has a short time to go!

Come on Guy's and Gal's! Help Kale out and make his day!

Now, Bob, you let Jackie bring anything she wants to for the sale.  Look at it this way....everything she brings out of the house, leaves more room for MORE STUFF.  LOL  If he keeps being a bad boy, I might even put Dallas up for sale.  Anyone got 2 cents to offer???????

Cat, not only is Dallas overpriced at $.02...do you really think you might find a taker?  Especially when you consider that all his toys would have to go with him.....and then what would you do with all that extra room? ???

All things considered you might wish to re-examine the offer to part with him...while he's sorta grown on me...like a wart...I'm sure he's much more important to you and the Kitty Cats. ;D

JR, the offer is openended.  Cash only please!   You do realize of course that when you take Dallas you have to put up with his weird sense of humor, his bad ebay habits, his addiction to busses and his attraction to really really strange people.(look at all his busnut friends if you have doubts about that one)   As for the extra space...........Just think of all the shoes I could have!

Yeah Cat,  I know you're right....but for .02 cents....what the hey...maybe if could resell him if he don't work out  (or don't work at all!)...and make a couple more cents....you know that in the market you gotta know when to move.
I'm trying to work out a loan for Dallas....I'll let you know how it goes...may need a certificate indicating that he's free of communicable (how you like the way I used that "communicable" word...a two dollar word from a .10 cent mind!) diseases.  He is isn't he?  HMMMMMMMMM? :o
I assume that you have clear papers on Dallas?  I'd hate to find a lien or something....then I'd be stuck if he don't work....work out that is.  One thing in his favor...boys got good taste in beer...Milwaukees Cheapest!   :D

Oh, yes, JR, There are definitely papers on Dallas.  He was pronounced certifiable by his Dr just last week.  I gave my word, not to tell what they certified his as but, he is definitely certifiable.  Last time I sold him, I made a killing from what they paid me to take him back.  Now, if I could just keep that racket going a while longer.  Cat

Anybody interested in being on TV?????? I have contacted two TV stations about the rally.  I will contact Channel 13 later since they already featured us last time.  The station from Chanel 10 in Columbia SC might show up.  This is still undecided at this point because of the cost of sending a video truck over here.  If anyone is from Columbia you might want to contact them and put in a plug for us there.  I have been communicating with Lucas, from Live with Lucas and he really wants to come but the powers that be are hesitating.  He has emailed me several times about the rally, asking questions and showing true interest.  I sent an email today to another Florence station and hopefully they will be here this time.  They weren't able to come last time.  The idea of music and food seems to be a big attraction for them as well as seeing some of these busses in all stages of completion.   Cat

BTW, speaking of nitpicky,  we need a banjo picker (close to "nitpicky"?) for the Timmonsville event...where're we gonna get one?  Probably someone around there knows a good bango player that likes to play for eats and libation.   I solve one problem and add another!  Sorry.
Does the other group that's gonna be there have a banjer picker? We'll borrow him. ::)

Hmm, Banjo? Nope! Although I know a couple, they aren't signed up to be there!

Most banjo players need a good bit of....assistance...to get where they are most needed.  Help them out a little...tell them it's "just a little bit up the road"...they'll get there.  Sometimes!  ;)
Harmonica and fiddle will add to the music!

That's right, make fun of me all you want to, see if I care!!!  I am much more unpredictible than someones powered up Eagle and Dallas enjoys cuddling with me a lot more than anyone can cuddle up with a bus.  I can't wait for you to get to T'ville so we can do some real sparing.   Just you wait, this Cat is purring now, but remember how moody and unpredictible cats can be.  Also, I do not get even......I get ahead!  LOL

Now this Timmonsville, SC gathering is getting serious like I figured it would.  I am really pleased to think that Sonny Gray may be there with his Eagle or I have mis-interpeted Busted Knuckle's post, Sonny has to know I am one of his very biggest fans and I have stated so many times on these boards.  Maybe Dallas & Cat can confirm the attendance of Sonny Gray with information for us all to look forward to.

If Sonny does attend and you want to see a real converter's work, work that professionals state could not be done, The changing of (DD3) F------- Brakes to spring, installation of a cat engine with minimal clearances and the complete redesign of reversing his drive and Bogie wheels assembly be sure, BE SURE to see Sonny's bus if he comes.  Bring your camera, ask questions and meet one of the most genuine friends you will make.  Be sure to meet his wife Pat also, she is also someone you will be happy to have met and continue to inquire about when talking to Sonny.  So if we all ask pretty please maybe Sonny & Pat can attend Dallas & Cat's gathering in October.

Lets see,
Jack & Paula Conrad, Sonny & Pat Gray- (Hopefully), Dallas & Cat, JR & Terry Lynch and their great music will be there, Ace & Susan with their new family addition, NCbob and His family, Kyle 4501 and his family  and of coarse, Linda & I with  our puppies and our S&S will be there and this is a list of only a few of those I know that are attending Dallas's & Cat's gatherin at this time.  Others I probably do not know as of this moment but I am anxious to see those I have met before and meet those I have not before this gathering.

Maybe if we try real hard we can convince others that attended last year to attend again this year.  Hint, (Cliff & Julie, Dave & Carol, Mike & Jay, Tommy & Margaret, Leroy & Lila, Gillis & Sarah, Sam & Sandy with their 1958 GMC with their special "Mexican" paint job I just loved, Jerry & Sharron, "John & Anita" great musicians that they are, Sandra & Alex, Dave & Dave with their S&S like us and anyone with the interest to come and have a good time with a chance to buy some good stuff, (Yard Sale Stuff).  Bring some stuff you no longer need to sell as well!!

WE can only hope for good weather for us, and not a torrential rain storm like in May.  That was horrible but happens.
Time is flying by, if you are tempted to come to one of these gathering please do and come relaxed, bring your favorite beverages and eats, leave room for the "Pig Picking" and  bring comfortable folding chairs to sit and listen to Jr & Terry and anyone else wishing to do some old fashioned Picking & Grinnin music.

Don't sit there and wait for my Photo's to be on my web site, come and be part of it and have your pictures taken having fun and after being seen by many thousands viewing them on the web wishing they had attended.

Look forward to more coming, Again be sure to bring Your Camera.

Gary, (1/2 Owner of the "Rustless Money Pit")

Ummm,
I think the Idea that Sonny Gray will be here is kind of premature.
As far as I know, he won't be here, unless something happens that I'm not aware of yet.

I think the idea got started when Cat and Bryce werehaving fun Back and forth, keeping the different rallies up front.

I apologize for any misconceptions!

Big disappointment on my part, but I got excited there for a moment.  I better learn to relax and not let ADD take over my emotions, AGAIN!  But he will be seen in Arcadia as far as I know and pretty sure of, (I HOPE).

Thanks for the clearing up of this Cat, Disapointing though, got to try figure out when you guys are always kidding, you know us (southern converted) yankee's--Ready to go!!

Sonny, if you see this, see the excitement you can cause if you were to show up at Timmonsville this October?  We would probably have to use other property next to Dallas & Cat's for everyone to stay!!

Thanks again Cat, sorry to excite everyone in the mean time.

Gary I too am sorry! I got confused as to which "WORLDS GREATEST CAT" Dallas's better half was refering too! I thoght it was just plain common knowledge in the "BUS NUT WORLD", that  Sonny's CAT powered EAGLE  is simply the Greatest! But NCBob explained it to me in a way it sunk through my KNUCKLE HEAD, that she was refer'n to herself!

Ohhh now I get it ! I'm sorry  Cat, Gary, Dallas, Sonny & Pat & their CAT   powered EAGLE, and anyone else I may have offended or confused with my own confusion! BK  ;D

Everyone should still show up at Timmonsville! Even if I was confused as to which "WORLDS GREATEST CAT" will be there! LOL!

Richard, I did not mean to imply that they would turn folks away.  However, the campground is somewhat limited in space.
It is only fair to give the dues paying members the first crack at the space available.
Like any other organization, Eagles International is always interested in increasing their membership.  The best way to do that is to open the rallies to non-members when there is space available.
That is the reason why I gave Bryon Piggs' phone number in my first post.
Now for a bit of an editorial comment:

PLEASE do not wait till the last minute to sign up or worse yet, just plan on dropping in.  All rallies take a lot of planning and Byron does a great job.  He must know how many folks are coming so he can plan his activities.  I am sure he plans for a few extra, but if he is overwhelmed with folks he did not plan for, that becomes unfair to him.  End of soap box!

Ok, folks.  I still have had no word on how many kids are coming. If there are any, I really want to plan something special for them, fun things to do, door prizes and such!   I am getting so excited about this rally.  I have my yard sale stuff piling up, got Dallas up and working (that was a real joy) and am still working on getting TV coverage.  I can't wait to see the friends I met in May, and some, as Jack & Paula,  long before that.  I am also looking forward to getting to know those friends I haven't met or heard of.  My favorite thing to look forward to is getting a hug from my buddy Bob (if Jackie  & Dallas will allow it)  Cliff, I hope you and your family can come because I want hugs from your kids 'cause they are huggable.  Cat

HEY you think Cliff's kids are huggable, wait until I get there!  ;D   BUT that's only if Dallas is smaller than me and can't run fast!  ::)

Cat,

We are still planning on it, but to many varibles that I dont control. :'( Like storms.....

I am going into my "get everything done and ready"  mode....So I should be ready to hit the road....

The final decision wont come until the 4th or 5th.

If everything works out we will be there.... :P

By the way, the Kids still talk about all the fun they had with You and at Timmonsville.

And, Cat m'dear, if you think for one second that I'd miss that "HUG" you're sadly mistaken.

For the moment we're back on track and it looks like we might just be able to live abord the bus for this rally. (Promises, promises)  In the meanwhile, Jackie's brandied fruit is doing just fine (yum, yum) and she's planning on bringing a Brandied fruitcake and one of her World Famous Rum cakes, w'Rum sauce which always goes over quite well too.  (No one under 21 allowed to taste!) :-\

The storage bay will be loaded with all the Cronie's I can bring and with any luck all will go well with the Conrad endeavor, the awning installation and Music, music, music.

Cliff, I am praying there will be no storms because I had a ball with your kids also, especially playing football with Patrick.  For anyone that hasn't met Cliff's kids, they are the best behaved kids anywhere.  Ace, I'm not sure about size, but I do know Dallas can't run at all with his bad knees.  I do need to ask you.....How fast can Susan run?    Bob, Tell Jackie we are eagerly waiting for her delicious sounding goodies.  If it's sweet, I pretty much like it.  Ya know? Maybe that's why I like you.  LOL

Well Ace,  we don't always publish everything we have in mind....we do need to keep some secrets..just to keep folks on the edge of their seats, so to speak.  ::)

Rest assured it's going to be more fun than a goat ropin'!  :o    With enough activities to keep us more than busy.

Just, please, don't forget the limes and the sharp knife! ;)

Speaking of kids, I'm dragging mine with me, Anna 9 & Seth 12. I'm bringing my dad too, or rather I've talked him into bringing us in his (new to him) motorhome.

I'm hoping that newbeeMC9 feller will show up & bring his young'uns too.

CliffI know your not sure if your going to T-Ville or not but we had talked about running up the road together and never heard any more about it. I just wanted to let you know that we are planning as of now to depart Lakeland on the 4th sometime! If you know by then if your going and you still want to tag or lead, let me know. Either way, I'll be going up 471 from 98 down here!

Didn't want to leave without at least telling you what our plans are!

Richard, If all you are gonna do is attend the festivities, then the cost would be $35.
The motel across the freeway is $53/night, but the motels up the roadabout 7 miles are between $29 and $42 per night.

It's great to hear that you guys are going to be able to make it! That makes three of the moderators all in one place!
Cat and I are really looking forward to it!

Ace,

Sorry I hadn't shored up any plans with you yet.

I am still in a holding pattern....I dont normally even plan a trip in Sept or Oct due to my job.

At best I will be leaving on the 5th.  :'(

Maybe we can still convoy home?  :)

Cliff not a problem. I understand! Yea maybe we can do the thing on the way home like you said! Heck I might like being there so much I may not go home! I already gave my notice at work that I would be taking the whole month of October off and maybe November too!  I guess you can call it a semi early retirement from THAT job anyway! I still have to work my OTHER job popping corn but I look forward to that one!

None the less, we'll see you there and have some fun that is IF you can get away!  ;D
