Title: I have electricity inside the bus now!
Post by: Danny on September 05, 2006, 10:11:10 AM
Update - Just finished putting the breaker box in the bus bay and the needed electrical hook at the house to take power to the bus.  I actually have an outlet in the bus that is wired to the new panel.

Big step!!!

Great news, Danny!  Now please share with us your plan on how and where you're going to install outlets in the bus so they'l be usable and where you want them when the finished product comes out. ;)   I'm kidding....I must have moved mine 3 or 4 times as the interior evolved.  But then this is my first bus conversion and I've a lot to learn.

Best of luck on your project.

Danny and Bob,
There's a lively discussion about choice of wiring that was started by Brian Belfert.  If you missed it, need to find it.
Although ya'll probably have your hardware picked out already...??
Cheers, JR

JR - was that the discussion of Marine cable, romex or stranded?  If so, that can be found here : http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=1845.0

Best Regards, Phil

Yep, that's it.  Thanks Phil.   This Romex vs stranded marine cable is a recurring subject...sorta like the OTR AC...remove it or not!  Good to have great minds hash these things out.   ;)

Congratulations Danny!
Getting Usable power to the bus for the first time is one of those things that make the conversion come closer to being in focus.

With one receptacle you have opened up a whole new world of options. After that first one though, you'll start to take the available electric for granted...... until something goes wrong, like trying to run an AC, a circular saw, a sawzall and a refrigerator all at the same time.

Plan well for the rest of your layout and it will eventually get done.

Geeez.

I remeber that day. I felt like Tom Hanks in that movie...The name escapes me now. But I beat my chest like an old silver back gorilla and declaired.. I..I HAVE ELECTRICITY.. I HAVE LIGHTS...

After the the neighbors had called the county mental health center and they let me out of the straight jacket I realized I might have over reacted just a tad. LMAO
