Title: Centaflex Plastic Piano Hinge
Post by: dave870 on November 30, 2007, 08:51:30 AM
Is anyone familiar with Centaflex Hinge, or more importantly know of a supplier.

I have used a little from the Canadian distributor who's current price is around $14.75 per foot although the same item is readily available in the UK for about $4.20 per foot. At 2 meters long not the easiest to ship from the UK.

With this price spread I would hope for a more reasonable price from someone in North America.

UK link to product.

Thanks,  Dave.

McMaster Carr (www.mcmaster.com) part number 1588A73 may work for you.

Thanks for the link Darrell.  The hinge I'm looking for is more heavy duty and mounts like a conventional metal piano hinge.

I recently had an interesting/bizarre experience ordering from McMaster Carr.

I'm a Canadian resident and ordered, 10 SS screws - 2" x 1/4-28 flat head - for mail delivery to my mail and parcel receiving office in Bellingham WA - but they canceled the order before shipping.  Pasted below is the exact response I received from the sales manager.

Hi Dave,

We understand that you have asked us to ship your order to a U.S. address,
but we also have reason to believe that the order will ultimately be
exported.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept your order.  You
may be able to find an alternate supplier of a similar product by
searching the supplier database at www.thomasnet.com or by conducting a
general search on the Internet.  Please accept our apologies.

Best Regards,

Neal

Mama says I'm not always the smartest cookie in the jar...why did...or why would...it matter to them?

Jack,

I don't know why it matters either, but I know that anytime I order a new computer for a customer I have to tell them that it will not be shipped out of the US. Probably just another thing put on us by terrorists. I hear most of those bombs they make have piano hinges on them!  ;)

I work for the school system and we have parts that are only mfg in Canada and they ship to us all the time and our suppliers get them in all the the time too.
