Bob and Jackie:
I'll be posting more information on my website and in the file sections of the various yahoo groups that I belong to.
This will take place tonight or in the morning. I just got back from a trying day at the Dr. and then trying to find some rivets for a Newell coach.
I'm plumb tuckered out and an ice cold refreshment is in order.

Jack,
That's too cool! are you bringing the Kitties?
They are free you know.
What we really need is a cook, dishwasher, parking valet, mechanic, attorney, bail bondsman, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer (see previous post for the caveat), welder, waitress, scullery maid, oh, geez,
I guess, if it's gonna be you and Paula, (mostly Paula and the Kitties!) you'll be welcome no matter.
Tell Sam & Company to hurry up here too!

Looks like the power pole campsites are going fast, so in order to get a leg up, I sent mine via PAYPAL!  HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHH...sorry.
Looking forward to the festivities and meeting bus owners!
BTW,  I like that concept....Oktoberfest!
I'm not sure if the questionnair had this factoid on it, but 30A will serve my needs.  Save the 50A for those ALL ELECTRIC  coaches.  ;)
Cheers, JR

JR,

I am working on the plan to get up there! ;)

Unfortunately the Atlantic hurricane season is in full swing by then so it will be a wait and see for me. >:(

When your in the 24/7 communications business, these storms can create lots of work.

Which means lots of O.T.

Which means lots of cash.

Which means the bus gets done faster.

Damn, I 'm not sure what to root for ;D ;D ;D

We will have to see how it pans out. ::)

Dallas,

One Question, the 20.00 per night camping fee.

Is it the same for Full hookup, partial hookup, and dry camping? ???

Cliff

Cliff,
Yep, it's the same no matter what.
We got this price last time too. I didn't know it at the time, because the fat a** lazy manager didn't tell me that.
This time I talked to the owner and he gave me the OK to do that. That also includes the use of the big grill and the propane to fire it up. Fishing is also included.

The flyers that are handed out with registration are incorrect (2004 vintage) when you register at the office. The idiot manager won't even empty the trash in the office. He hires one of the renters to take it out for him.

If any one that came to the last get together had a problem with him, please email the owner at:
wsldesigns@aol.com

Please, Everyone, be sure to include your camping fees when registering.
The campground owner asked Cat and I to take care of registering and reservations because the manager isn't really capable of doing it.

Thanks all,

Dallas

Dallas,
Can I send you the camping fee for the rally 10/5 through 8, and pay the "early" days when we arrive. We do not yet what day we will arrive, but we knmow it will be early.  This is one of the things I like about retirement, I do not have to be on a schedule.  Jack

This is a note to the folks that ate at the diner that is beside the campground.  We spoke with the owner this week, telling her of our next rally.  Believe it or not.......she asked that we NOT come there this time.  She said we interfered with her local customers and she does not care about outsiders.  She said we flooded her place at one time, took too much of her time, space and food.  We had told her in advance there would be a good number of people there and that we would recommend that people eat breakfast at her restaurant.  She said that we did not tell her everyone would come in at one time and she did not appreciate that type of business.  We are looking for another close restaurant to recommend.  Because of this attitude, she has lost our business and lots of business that she could have had in October.  Hard to imagine someone telling someone they don't want business but those were her words and her attitude.  Cat

Wow, what a way to run a business! And not to mention showing that good ol' southern hospitality! I hope ya find a nice little place striving to survive that'll show the proper apreciation for the extra business!
Knuckle!

PS. Steve aka El Sonador was here at "my place" last week and is try'n to get me to have a West TN Getogther and if I do I can assure you any of the restaurants we reccomend will gladly serve any and all, when we bombard and take over their establishments! I was even thinking if we have a bus here at the shop at the time we might even try to use it for shuttling, sight seeing, or even shopping trips if we can get a small donation to cover the costs fo fuel and such! Look for more on a inquiring thread I'll be opening shortly! BK

We went to Georges Restuarant in Timmonsville, and they were very busy, food good, and pleasant....and business like.    I could tell that there son was overworked and underpaid....I'm familiar with this condition.  60 years of experience in being overworkd and underpaid.

JR, I'll send you a gift. I'll send something larger than life, full grown, but it only comes in white.  How 'bout I send Dallas as a very special gift for you.  HEHEHEHE

We had thought about checking with Georges to see what they would say about us sending people to them.  We had really liked the idea of a restaurant right here, where everyone could walk over.  But her words put an end to that one.  She was actually angry with us because we filled her restaurant with business.  Cat

I think I can see the restaurants point of view also. It appears from what you told us that she has a regular customer base for breakfast every day that taxes her facility to the limit. Customers are very fickle and if they can not get in, they go somewhere else. I suspect she would rather have her every day, seven day a week customers than a bunch of nuts a couple days a year.

That's the bad part.  She doesn't have many customers.  She probably doesn't bring in $400 a day and most of her customers come from the interstate.  She was thrilled when we told her about the rally, was planning to put in 2 cooks and 2 waitresses and then she decided she had better things to do and did neither.  She also did not even show up herself.  She knew to expect lots of people and was pleased that we were suggesting her place.  Most weekend mornings she only has 1 or 2 cars at a time.  If I was a business owner, I would welcome any and all business.  She had the restaurant once and couldn't make a go of it.  With her attitude this time, I don't think it will go this time either.

The 50 Amps are all spoken for. Sorry.

He was so happy that he didn't even eat any of the tourists that stop by to ogle him. Well, I'm not counting the 4 year old boy the stomped on his foot, that was self defense!  :D :D :D

Dallas, did you put T-Rex's little arms back on?   :D
T and I went to the Southeast Old-Time Threshers Reunion today...saw all sorts of mechanical contraptions...dude had a working Sterling Cycle engine in operation.  Thing was quiet and and running a tiny water pump.  Ran off of LP.
Also saw a brand new Kubota 14 HP diesel engine for sale...no radiator or controls, but the engine was comlete down to a tiny alternator.  It's not a marine application...standard exhaust manifold.   Had flywheel and starter.  Looked like about 1" straight shaft out of the flywheel end....have to be used with a pully or coupling.
I've got the guys phone number if anyone wants a small diesel Kubota.  Let me know if and I'll supply.   Engine is located in Hickory, NC and he's asking $1200.   I have no idea what such an engine is worth...or if this would be a deal.   I know what parts for them cost and from that perspective it's a deal.
See ya this fall, JR

Rex's poor little arms have gone missing!
No wonder he's in such a bad mood!

Sure wish I could afford the Kubota engine, but right now it's beyond my cash flow! In Fact, my cash flow tide is ebbing quickly!

Somebody needs to pick that little motor up!

Sniff. . .Sniff... . .Christy Hicks

Well, Christy,

We'll really miss you and Larry.

Besides, the Dinosaur was looking forward to inviting a Oklahoma transplant for dinner! :P

If we have another rally next spring it may be in another location so maybe it'll be easier for us all to meet up!

I'm in the process of cleaning out lots of stuff so I can collect more junk to carry around with me!

I'm going to put it all out on a table and maybe, if other people do the same thing, we can have a genuine swapmeet!

Collect your stuff in a bay and bring it with you!

Let's all go home with stuff that we don't need and will never use, but we never had before!

Timmonsville Octoberfest
October 5th through the 8th

I'm sorry, but if I had to clean out and bring all our extra stuff :-\. . . shoot, I'd need to bring all THREE busses with me ;). . . hahahahaha.

I sure wish we could come and show off our new tiled floor and shower. . . we picked up the tile yesterday, and it sure is going to be pretty. . .tile guy said he'd tile it next week  ;D.  . .and thank goodness we got his 40% discount, OUCH :o. . . Larry was admiring the granite and I told him just to hold that thought till we were ready to tile the 9, then he could pick the "good stuff".

I hope you'll take a ton of pics at the rally and post them somewhere so we can see all the fun we missed!  You know, sort of rub it in!   ;) ;D  Christy

Gary Labombard is going to be our official Pitcher Taker! He took loads of photos of the last rally and everyone was impressed.

I'm sure he'll take even more this time!

Sniff, sob, too bad you can't be here!

Hmmm,
I could be wrong, it's happened before, ask my exwives!
I thought he told me he would do our official photo albums on his Webshots site.

If he doesn't want to, I'm sure we can get lots of photos, just not as good as the ones he takes.

Thanks Ace, I'll ask him tonight.

Dallas I could be wrong too but something tells me that's what he either said or was thinking of saying! :) Better to ask the horses mouth himself. I'm sure he'd take some pics but maybe not as many as he usually does! Then again, I could be all wet and just thought about how much work he puts into it and figured he needed someone to step in and say that's enough. Heck with all I have going thru my mind right now, I might not have even thought this. I might have just blurted it out!

Oh well, just forget I said anything and ask Gary! That way we'll both know what's going on!

I talked to Gary last night and he said he didn't mind the smallrallies, it was the huge ones that were too much like work.

I really don't want anyone to feel like they HAVE to do anything except come up, have fun and relax amongst friends.

That's what this get together is all about, enjoying our hobby with others that enjoy our hobby.

Having seen all the work that Gary put in last rally I'll be happy to bring my digital cameral and laptop and be of any help I can to help him cover the event.  If my help is accepted we can interface and work out the details.  As far as I'm concerned I'll simply put my efforts  on a portable tape recorder and a CD and give it all to Gary for editing, etc.

It might allow him a bit more time for beer drinking and fun....after all that's what we're all going to be there for......

Ace,
I needed to get to the bottom of it too. I was worried that Gary was doing it just to please me and I really don't want that. I would like everyone to have a good time and enjoy themselves, whether it's looking at other buses, swapping lies, popping a few tops, fishing or just covering their eyes and taking a well deserved nap.

Thanks for bringing it up.

Hello everyone,

I did not know this conversation was going on but to put everything in perspective I have every intention to take Photo's at the Timmonsville, SC bus gathering in October of 2006 that is as long as no one else wanted to do it more.  The smaller events I look forward to now to do this and get a little personal with each family / busnut and see all their rigs and try my best to explain what it is I am seeing.  With the larger bus rally's like Arcadia I will not get so personal and go in the rigs as there is too many and too much to see.  I will love to go in them just to look but again the photo's take a lot of time to sort out etc.  Taking the photo's and posting them as I took them with no explanation I won't mind doing so much at Arcadia.

I am pleased that Dallas & Cat are satisfied the work I did last event we had there and would want me to continue to take the photo's at Timmonsville.  NCBOB, thanks for offering to help, bring your camera and take photo's, I may miss some and I can just post them as they are sent to me by you if I am not sure what is going on.  Anyone else taking photo's that want to share them on my web site I welcome also and will give everyone my email address to forward them to me if they so wish.

Those not attending these rally's enjoy just looking at our photo's and maybe because of the gasoline situation and the cost of traveling etc. they can see these smaller gatherings on the net and plan to attend one or more during the year.

Anyone with suggestions what they would like to see photo's of at Timmonsville please make comments here if I seem to have missed something you wanted to see in a photo on my last Timmonsville photo webs site.  My venue will be such as this,

(1) Photo's of owners in front of their rigs with a possible sign with their names on it or I will post the names on the site.

(2) These photo's of the front of their rigs and the names on the placard in front will also have all their family and PETS also in them if they wish with all the names of each.

(3)  Photo's of each side of Bus / RV and the back and any special graphics for all to appreciate.

(4) Inside photo's if owners so desire but this time I will tell all when I am doing this ahead of time so they will have the time to (Tidy) up if they need to and want to.  The last time I think I embarassed a few without using my noggin and realizing I was in personal space and ask first instead of flashing the camera at everything.  I promise to try to be more organized this time and the reason I am is so that I can find time just to sit, talk,  drink, eat, play music and listen to others play, did I say drink??  Oh yea!!

(5)  If the owners have special set up Generator compartments, special LP stations on board, Waste tank set ups, fresh water tank set ups or just anything they want to show on the net be sure to make me aware of and have them ready for the photo's to be taken.

Newbies in particular now are getting smarter, (I wish I had gotten smarter 4 years ago) but now they want to see what we have done verses the manufactured RV's and Buses for the ideas that fit their plans in the future with their rigs.

Thanks ahead of time for thinking of the work involved for me and any help offered to assist.  I look forward to giving you all as much information as I can concerning conversion information, rally's and all photo's I can share and not bore you with.

Gary LaBombard,  ("Rustless Money Pit") owner----1/2 owner!!

We had this sign made that we put in the windshield when we are camping. A local sign shop made the sign with vinyl lettering an a piece of corrugated plastic (kinda like a cardboard box only plastic) for about $20.00.  Several of our friends have these signs for their buses as well. At a bus rally, it can certainly help find a specific person's coach, as well as let non busnuts know just how old some of these coaches are.  Jack

No problem with your head, you were thinking with your heart for a freind, thanks.

Jack,
This is a great idea of the identification card / location of owner and all information concerning the conversion or RV which makes no difference to us having a gathering / party.  If everyone would have one made or make one up on their own and place it in the driver side windshield of their bus would easily identify yourselves to everyone walking around and this would be great all all rally's especially the big one at Arcadia.  This would sure help me out as well and I will have to do a lot less note taking and remembering etc.  If you do this, please make the signs large enough for everyone to see clearly, especially me.
Thanks again Jack.
Gary

I also saw some signs at the last rally here that had a simple Yes/No printed on opposite sides indicating whether you were being incognito or open to giving tour/visits/whatever.

I've been asked by a few people if we are going to have a swap meet at the get together.
I think it sounds like a really good idea! Maybe I can unload some of this junk, I mean, highly valuable merchandise.

Who else is interested in setting up a swap meet? Can I get a show of hands?

Hey Everyone,
I just thought I'd pass along some cool information!

It seems that two of our illustrious members, Jack Conrad and NCBob have cooked up a little scheme to put on a seminar at our little get together in Timmonsville.

It will consist of installing one of Jack's world famous door latch improvements on Bob's MCI.
There's gonna be a BIG hole cut into Bob's pretty Stainless Steel door, so I want to watch the fun!

We will take lots of pictures to document this installation and I hope everyone will bring their cameras so we can get photos from lot's of different angles.

Don't miss this demonstration as I expect it to really be something to see!

For information on the Rally, check out my website:

Or go to the calendar entry for October on The MAK board!

YO YO YO Jack!   While you're cutting holes, how about some tail lights in my bus? HMMMMM?   I know you can do it, 'cause you got them cool tail lights and I got those butt-ugly OEM tail lights and like you're doing the door latch for Bob and....the unfairness of it all!  :'(  I already got a door latch.  It's sorta interesting.  The whole campground will know when I enter or exit the coach.   It has a special noise.  40 lb solenoids do make some noise.  Good thing I didn't use on on the bathroom door!  'Course, I don't have a bathroom door!   :o
BTW, let me know what sort of lights we'll need and I'll bring'em!  Bob's and my projects should pretty much use your weekend up!  Wouldn't want you to get bored!  Don't forget about the satellite dish seminar!  I'll need my dish set up pretty quick once I arrive!  I'll be looking for you!  Let the demos begin! ;)
Maybe I'll just go ahead and get the R&M lowers.  Been thinking about it.   Don't know if "practice coach" is really worthy of spending a lot more on it.  Been awfully dependable so far.  About the time I spend another $10K going smooth, it'll take a crap.   Reckon Rich could do smooth convert while I wait?  Maybe do a demo at Arcadia!  That's the ticket!
I'll bring some extra lawn chairs and adult beverages  and cheer you on while ya'll are sawing big holes in Bob's `5!  I can't wait!  :D
See ya'll in Timmonsville!  JR  8)
BTW, Jack, post a pix here of your taillights so others will see that to which I refer!

JR,
I found those lights on Ebay. I would have to look to see it they are still available. I also purchsed new rear corner skins to install the new light in. Here are a couple photos on the lights.  The top light is the turn signal and is amber when energized. I couldn't time the camera to get the photo when the turn signal was energized. Jack

Has your roof been raised?  Looking at that sectin between the cap and blower door...looks like a section has been added?
I see a stainless polishing seminar coming up!   :D

Like I tell everyone hey put a sleeping bag or two in it and enjoy it while ya build it! Hey BK!
Just a shameless theft of your post on my thread so I could post on yours and bring it to the top!

So far we've got, I think, 14 registered with about 20 more that want to come that haven't made a firm decision yet.

OK guys and gals, It's getting shy on full hookups around here, hurry and preregister to save a little money and also to make sure you get a good place to park.

Then, while your on the road, you might as well take the time to meander over to BK's in Union City, Tn. and enjoy a great get together there too! Make sure you get registered at BK's before hand also so you don't get stuck out in the mud pit.

Christy,
When I took the photo's I posted on my website of the Timmonsville, SC gathering in May I used Webshots to post them.  I included on the description of each photo of all of the bus owners, their children and of coarse their special pets when they posed in front of their rigs.  I was not sure about the place cards with the information of everyone would show up very good in the photo's so after taking the photo's of each I wrote down who everyone was in a book, description of each vehicle, and all names of everyone to post on each photo of the owners and their rigs photo's, and also a (Yes or NO) on the bottom of the windshield identification card that means yes to participate in photo's inside and outside or No, they do not want any photo's presented on the WWW as they are in (Cognito) or some other reason.  This I will respect from here on out to the best of my ability on personal up close photo's in particular.

I am in favor of the place cards put in each windshield  with the above information on them and will try to come up with one to post here similar as a guide to perhaps make or have made, nothing fance of coars, similar to the nice one that Jack Conrad posted on this thread earlier.  We need one that describes the names of owners, their home location, year  and name / model of thier conversion or rig they are in, years in progress of converting and also if they want to participate in having their personal photo's taken for all to see who they are.  I did not have the brains to ask permission of one particular couple  at Timmonsville and feel at this time I intruded into their privacy by taking and presenting photo's of their rig inside when they felt they were not ready to have any photo's taken.  In fact, I felt this way since you also posted some time ago  that there is some photo's you do not want take of you while eating etc. like that and so I appreciate you making me aware of being a little more sensitive in what I am doing here.

The descriptions in the Weshots program of my webshots allows me to fill in the information completely of each photo taken.  I will of coarse take photo's of the front of the bus with the owners there with their pets etc. and their place cards will be in place in their windshields also in the photo but I will just add the information again in the description part in case.

For my own memory I plan to take one photo not to be used by anyone but me with the owners holding a chalk bord or similar identification board to put a number on it for them to be holding so that I will refer to this number in my record book of information to refer to when making the descriptions of all in my website.  Last time use colors of the buses to keep my head straight a little and good grief there was two buses that had similar colors and also their buses were also the same kind so I had a problem there trying to keep straight.

Id of the buses at Arcadia also hopefully will be considered, perhaps a place card can be offered in each arriving package presented at the rally that we can all put the information on and put on our windshields. Some of these conversions are completely changed so that the name of the bus is not really visible if that is the correct word.  Wait till you see my Eagle when done, the only physical thing that will not be changed will be the front cap angle of the bus.  Nothing original will be recognizable on my bus and I want everyone to know she starte out being an Eagle at birth but I gave her a complete make over for sure.

Hope this will help Christy, thanks for the input, I look forward to seeing you there at Arcadia.
Gary

Hey everyone, I just want to remind you to get your registrations in early!

Space is filling up so if you want a 30 amp hookup, you need to register and let us know.

There's also still some 15A plug ins but those are going to have to be run on extension cords. I have a few cords, but you better bring your own.

We still have lot's of dry camping areas but considering the cost for those is the same as full hook ups, you might want to reconsider waiting!

Also, bring lots of stuff, junk, antiques, treasures and spare parts to trade during the swap meet!

One more thing, please include your camping fee with your registration fee so we can turn it in to the campground owner and keep him happy.

Jack Conrad is going to show us how to install a new door latch on Bob Weis' MC5, we are going to eat like PIGS, I guess you could say we'll be eating High on The Hog!

You can send a check or money order or cash if that's the easiest way, or simply use PayPal.

I've included a copy of the registration form here. Click on the link below, or go to my website, http://www.busconversionstuff.com/eventpage.htm and download it from there.
