Hi Fellow busnuts!

We have a new feature, "Ignore User".  This let's you ignore threads from a selected user or users.  NOT that we EVER would have such a situation w/in our fine community. Ha ha!!  Ahem.  But - just in case, it is available.  In your profile, check the ignore user settings.  This affects only message threads.  So now, if my posts seem mysteriously ignored, I'm gonna get suspicious!!!   Grin  Cheesy

You will also see an "Ignore User" button by each user's posts- you can "ignore"  from there as well!

Best Regards, Phil

Phil, I think it is a great idea, the ignore button that is, but what actually happens if I click on the ignore button. Does a big message go to that person saying "you have been ignored" or what? Grin Just curious. I don't want to be rude and try it unless I have to.

No messages are sent out.  You will still see that they made a post, and the subject line, but instead of the content of the post it will just say "User is currently ignored".

In this community, it is the moderating team's hope that it is the most unused feature of the forum.  But for those that find themselves in a personality conflict with another user to the extent that they don't enjoy the forum anymore, this provides a way to continue to enjoy it.  You can also elect to refuse their PM's in your profile settings.

That is a good question -

I don't believe a message is sent to the other person, however, I am not certain and we will test & post the result back to this thread.

Hope this helps, Phil

I hope a message isn't sent. I just clicked ignore on airbag (just to see what it would do), and saw the results. I quickly undid it Grin Grin Grin.

A very convenient feature...Thanks Grin.

I'm sorry guys, what were you saying? lol with my memory I have one built in lol.  Next feature to work on is to be able to send pics or files to each other, then we'll see about voice enabling the chatroom, then video, who knows how many ways we can spend your money, expiring minds want to know.

This is really kind of a sad statement on our society. In the old days, if you wanted to ignore someone, you just ignored them. Period.  Now, we have to have a computer button to ignore them.

I was going to say it's the height of laziness, but I'm not sure that clicking a button to ignore someone isn't actually MORE work than just ignoring them in the first place!

I am conflicted.  Gumpy hit my thoughts on the head.  I pretty much just scan the threads from some people but I still value knowing when they post.  So BubbaG gets my thanks for mentioning that we still get to see when the party posts.

I doubt that I will use this feature.  I have no trouble ignoring people if that is want I want to do and I learn stuff from even the most unlikely or unlikable sources even if it is only what a bad example looks like up close.  I have to admit that I was amused by one post to me that stated that they would not read any of my posts but they said that after a long and bitter harangue.  This is a beautiful way, for those so enclined, to have the absolute word.

MODS
I hope the moderators will give some more thought to the feature whereby the PM mail system returns "blocked" mail as undeliverable.  What could anyone fear from this?  A bad PM?  Being up front about your feelings?  We are admonished to do things "in the light".  Or maybe not being able to snicker about  someone's futile efforts till the AH gets the "message"?

Bottom line: I prefer options and I support the Mod staff.

Since the number of people ignoring me matches the number of members on the board,  I can say whatever the heck I want now Shocked Grin  I might go ahead and post that nudey picture of uncle ned Cheesy
