Missionary School Bus

This may not be the best place to ask this ... but y'all seem very knowledgeable and freindly with your bus knowledge.  I am going to be doing two years on missionary work ... from a bus.  I am looking to actually convert a school bus into a living and working space.  Working for the church, I really don't have a lot of money.  Could any of you suggest where I might buy a semi-runng/running 30-40 passenger school bus [I think these are the normal size] for pretty cheap?  I do have a few people who are able to fix it up some, so minor damages would be alright.

Will this bus be driven? if so how far and how often?
Or will it be used used just as a base-camp and not driven?

What IS your budget, approximately?
Are you going to be doing rough road traveling?
Are you planning on staying in the US or heading out of the country?
40 passenger might be kind of tight, considering they pack the chill'uns in 3 to a seat, you may want to look at more of a 65 passenger.
Where are you located? Many school districts have surplus auctions.
