All,
Along with my other post on what to look for in a BUS, why buy a BUS over an RV?

So think about this and number 1 thru 5 on what you think are "the top 5 most important reasons on why to buy a BUS over an RV in priority order".

  With my old S&S rigs   5, I constantly fought roof leaks
                                 4, They shook apart when they were young
                                 3, They looked like every other one
                                 2,  It took major work to change the interior design
                                 1,  No one said "What year is it, how did you do that, are you out of your mind, I want one, or that's cool.

SO ALL US BUS NUTS WON"T BE SO LONELY!

But seriously consider this:  RV's are made for being used every now & then. And maybe a total life of 100,000 miles. And not in a commercial application. Buses are made for literally millions of miles of use. Just go walk in some of the RV's even the "Spensive Ones" then walk in a bus conversion. You'll see.

What's wrong with that Crown?   That will buff right out.   It's just obediently waiting to have its nether regions inspected, then it will roll back up, shake itself dry, and carry on as if nothing happened.   I guess that white smudge on the ground next to it is all that's left of the S&S that got too close to it.   All in a days work for your typical skoolie.

reason #1:  We could afford a nice bus that was big and tough enough for out needs (towing a race car trailer).
reason #2:  We thought the S&S MH's we looked at were crap.
reason #3:  We really like rolling along and singing this song:  "There's a big bus going to Nashville, leaving at quarter to four"' over and over, endlessly, bouncing in our seats like fools with silly grins.  That's all we know of the song.  In a S&S MH, I think we'd look a little silly doing that, don't you?   Shocked

No reason 4 and 5, writer is out trying to start the bus.

We tried the MH route. Shook them to pieces going up and down the highways, putting around 60 to 80,000 a yr on them. We live in the south, and I would rather be in our old bus when there are tornando warnings than in the house. Grin  It may roll, but chances are better there of survival,lol.

I had an S&S, a Gulfstream to be precise. Second only to a Bounder for first place in the motorhome hall of junk!  I do not need 5 reasons, only two.
It was not steerable, the thing was all over the road, by the time I got anywhere I was exhausted. 2. the brakes were inadequate, further stress wihile driving. Do you really need three more reasons?
 
 There are reasons my experience was so bad. But I did not learn what I needed to know before buying an RV until later. If you are considering  an S&S.  Check out   rv.org   If someone close to me was going to buy an RV I would force them to pay the $139 to join or pay it myself!!  JIm

Not all Class A are equal I would have no fear of owning a Newell or a Foretravel me I prefer the new Newell over a bus

As a firefighter, I responded to a accident where a SUV collided with a brand new class C S&S. The Suv was in fair shape even after rolling over and the motorhome appeared to have exploded. The ford chassis cab was the only thing recognizable. After seeing that, I cant believe I ever put my family into one of those things.

Top Gear raced motor homes around a track. They also raced buses around a track.  If you saw those 2 episodes you could see for yourself which is safer. Grin

Based on one of the photos I posted above, it appears that cars fair similarly against S&S's.
