New temporary attraction at Kalamazoo AirZoo-GM Futurliner

The Air Zoo today welcomes a General Motors Futurliner that will be on display through April 1. GM in 1940 built 12 Futurliners, stylized buses used to transport and showcase a GM national tour promoting the advancement of technology. Each featured exhibits highlighting modern science and engineering. Exhibits in the Futurliner on display at the Air Zoo include “Chevrolet Soap Box Derby” and “Opportunity for Youth,” which is about the Fisher Body Craftsman’s Guild.

“By having a Futurliner on display at the Air Zoo, we hope to continue inspiring youth to follow their dreams and envision the possibilities of the future,” Bob Ellis, Air Zoo president and CEO, said in a news release about the “a different kind of traveling exhibit” for the Portage aviation museum. “The Futurliners were about showing progress, including innovations in aviation.”
