Yep..looks like that chrome monster is built more for show than for actual real power.  Wonder how many blower drive belts he breaks.  Those superchargers MUST hog a lot of power!

No turbos?  No big intercooler?  Yep again, seems to me that the monster is well short of the boasted hp.  But then again, nitrous oxide is the cure of all aliments.  Wow!  HB of CJ (old coot)

In the video, how is it that he closes and opens the "throttle plates" on the backside with no apparent difficulty, and no evidence of air flowing though them?

Monkey business that the plates are there in the first place?

Me thinks that the only thing missing is an offering plate and a used car lot out the back.

Is it a true V24, or two V12s siamesed together?   In other words, does it have one 12-cylinders-long crankshaft, or two shorter crankshafts bolted together?   I know GM had a V20 locomotive engine at one time, but I cannot imagine how a single crankshaft this big wouldn't have massive torsional flex.   And imagine line-boring the block for it!

If it came out of a boat, I wonder how he will cool it without having an ocean of water nearby.

I agree, it looks like more show than go.   It does make a nice noise though.

On the top right blower, there is not much belt wrap on the drive pulley - So, that blower isn't compressing much air - if any at all.

My opinion is that it is more for show than go. The narrator didn't say much to inspire confidence in anything he had to say.

BTW, I'd think 3000+ HP would be a more impressive sound & it didn't scream like I thought it would . . . . .

All that said - If you can get past the the technical 'issues/ questions', it is an impressive looking show piece. I'd love to see it in person.

Glad you guys liked it.... or at least liked critiquing it!  Grin Grin Grin I think it's fun fodder for discussion. I haven't a clue if it can do what he says. Not my line of expertise. (my Detroit is the first "diesel" I ever even touched!) BUT, that motor has some kind of "Cool Factor"!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Shocked :oI'd like to find out more about it to see if in fact the guy was blowing as much smoke as the engine was blowing exhaust. I didn't really care about that much at first, but all the skepticism has me wondering.
Either way, this motorhead thinks it's the Kats!!!!! It would still look good in my bus!!! Roll Eyes

I remember Big Mike 1 was around 2800 hp I don't doubt the HP you can get a 1000 hp from a 8v92 with 2 turbos, the air box on top of that engine had to cost a small fortune looks to me like he used some of the series 149 designs, I would have went with the V20 149 engine lot less work and money to get the same hp

The 24V-71 was a marine engine that is two 12 cylinders bolted together.  Originally had four blowers and 4 turbochargers and put out 1800hp @2300rpm.  This one is a show engine.  Personally-I think all those blowers are empty with just shafts in them for show.  I don't think there would be anyway a single belt from the crankshaft could power all those blowers at the same time.  If you look carefully, the rear three blowers have a powering belt both on the front and the back of the blower-with them calling that two blowers.  I think the original 4 blowers are still under the air box actually powering the engine.  Also notice how "loose" the belts are when the engine is running.  If you've ever seen a dragster with a blower, the belt tightens up real fast.  And especially with "12 blowers", those belts would be really tight.  But-you've got to admit-it is a really magnificent looking engine!  Good Luck, TomC

 It's mostly show....... Go Google 24V71 and find the build pics of the 8 supercharger setup, all total BS !! . It's a 24V71 NA . a 12v71NA was rated at 475 HP @ 2100  ........Chome it if it don't go!! If you listen to that dyno run it never made a hard pull ...ALL B.S.!!!!

I don't think they ever made a 24v71 NA the last one I was close too was a 2400HP at 2500 rpm 2 monster turbos DDEC engine in a ferry fwiw that engine and ferry is running everyday across the Houston Ship Channel

 google    24V71 powered peterbilt 359 ,  theres a complete photo build of a 24V71 T & that 24V71NA W the 8 BDS blower Showpiece bolted to a 24V71NA that they took 4 turbos off ...It might make a 1000 HP on good day at sealevel .
