Event Name:       “A Gathering of Buses”
 Date:          August 16, 17 & 18, 2011
Location:      The Greyhound Bus Museum, Hibbing, MN

On August 17, 2011 there will be A Gathering of Buses in Hibbing, MN, where Greyhound Lines had its beginnings, in 1914. Hibbing is the home of The Greyhound Bus Museum, the only free standing Bus Museum in North America.  The Greyhound Museum property has numerous buildings containing real buses from over the years, many displays, a theater and a gift shop. The Gathering is an event where people from all over North America will meet, many bringing buses of their own, to enjoy the company of others interested in buses. This is the day when there will  be a Bus Industry Flea Market. Wednesday evening after enjoying all the wonderful things the Greyhound Bus Museum  has to offer along with the Flea Market, there will be a sit down dinner in the evening, available to those who wish to participate.

Tuesday, August 16, The Early Bird Day, will provide time for old and new friends to gather and reminisce about the good old days. On Thursday, the18th there will be a guided charter bus tour highlighting the points of interest in the area surrounding Hibbing. This will include visiting one of the largest operating open pit iron ore mines in the world.

The normal modest Greyhound Bus Museum entry fee will be charged to tour the museum which will be valid for the entire length of stay at Hibbing.  The Museum is home to 18 vintage historical Greyhound Buses, the largest collection of its type, in the world.   There will be a charge for the Wednesday evening’s meal and the Thursday bus tour, for those who wish to participate.

Hibbing has many fine lodging establishments and eating establishments to fit every budget.  The Hibbing Park Hotel has been selected to be the host hotel and the site of the Wednesday evening dinner.

For those who may be traveling in converted coaches or other RV vehicles, dry camping is available.  A commercial camp ground is available nearby for those who wish full hook ups.

Hibbing, MN is located in north central Minnesota and can be reached easily by auto, RV, private plane or commercial airline via a Delta Commuter from Minneapolis.   Sadly, line run bus service is no longer available to Hibbing.  Duluth or Minneapolis are the closest points served.
