« on: September 26, 2006, 05:16:58 AM »

Hey all, I am making this my last post to remind everyone that the Timmonsville, SC Get Together is coming up in 1 more week. October 5th through the 8th.
We are going to have Jack COnrad cutting holes in Bob Wies' door, I'm gonna try and repeat my success at aluminum welding with my small MIG welder.
Live Bluegrass and Gospel music is planned, (by the way, I hear we need a banjo picker, any volunteers)?
A pig is gonna get cooked, we'll also be having a Swap Meet to unload all the junk, unh, priceless treasure you've been hoarding.

More information and a registration form is available at:
http://www.busconversionstuff.com/eventpage.htm

If you can't make that one, make sure you don't miss Bryce Gastons, TN FALL BUSH BASH @ Knuckle's" Oct 26th-31st. And you can eat and drink your fill and get to pull your coach over the pit for a good inspection and a chance to accomplish some small underneath jobs!
More information on this one is at:
http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=1160.0

And one more to mention:
The NJT get together sponsered by Christy and Larry Hicks in Carthage, Mo.

Information is at:
http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=876.0

Cool huh?  Hmmmm....I thing I've said this already.
Been busy and very tired.  Got the bus ready to go...now if it'll start.  I'll find out this weekend.  Love to see that cruise control work too!  That would be cool!
Cheers, and see ya soon! JR

Yessir, Mister 5047,
We are planning on having potluck dinners so that everyone can participate and no one has to work to hard at cooking.

We were trying to talk Mcd's and Piece-a-hut into setting up, but they cordially reclined.

Bring whatever you want to eat because no matter what it is, after Bob and Ace's Corona's no one will be able to taste it anyway.

Actually, I'm just funnin'. I'll have Cat get on here tonight and let all of us males know where we stand, or sit, or sleep as the case may be.

See ya all thursday.
(By the way, tell Bob to pour lots more ice on top of those 12 cases!)

Dallas, are you on route 403 at I-95? Looks like 403 from I-20 would be better route for me than going all the way to I-95 and then south to exit 150.  What say you?

Richard,
Yes we are right on SR403 about 200 yards off of I-95.
Although SR403 is a good road, it really doesn't save much more than 2 miles when used as an alternative to going down I-95 and getting off at exit 150. It also can be about 15 minutes longer because of the lower speed limit and having to go through town. Our town has two stop lights and the one you have to go through on the SR403 route is not the most reliable.

Later this evening, or in the morning I'll post a map and directions for the easiest ways to get here.

We are going to have burgers or something simple on Friday night so chips, slaw, and that type stuff would be great.  Those same type things would go great with the BBQ on Sat.  I hope to take Terri's idea of marshmallows and maybe make smores one night but it has been many, many years since I have done that so I will need some help in that area.  We could use some desserts also.  We have plates, cups, napkins, silverware and stuff already.  We will be having Krispy Kreme on Fri, Sat and Sun AM with coffee and juice (if Ace doesn't forget the big coffee pot).  Don't do anything that takes lots of time or trouble.

Also tell the women not to forget  their crafts, baked goods and household stuff that they want to get rid of.  No, they cannot use this opportunity to get rid of the men folk, or vice versa.

The main thing we want is for everyone to relax, enjoy  visiting and have a wonderful time.  This is not a weekend for everyone to wear themselves out getting ready for.  It is for FUN!!!!!!!   Cat

Dallas,  it pleases me to advise that the band payment check has cleared and your entertainment (...one of TWO entertainment groups) will arrive on Friday morn!   And best of all, your bass player will arrive on Thursday!  Thursday's entertainment may be a little sparse...a solo bass player can only do so much.  Light percussive elements will be the note of Thursday evening....the sound of pop-tops on Milwaukee's Cheapest....Best.   Can't afford them Cronies! Roll Eyes
However, due to your  generosity, Friday's and Saturday's entertainment should be much improved....MD 20/20!!
When is the Gospel group arriving?  We're gonna need them.
Dallas, thanks for the fuel donation too!  Every little bit helps!
See you Thursday afternoon!  All excited and everything you know!    Cheesy
Best Regards, JR  Cool

BTW, BK,  may I suggest that you send Cap'n Ron a reasonable "love offering"  and get him down there!  Don't let Dallas get ahead of you....it's all in the entertainment!   Wink

Your muchly welcome JR!
I didn't know exactly how much fuel both of the units would take to fill so I sent exactly double what I sent the last time.
If there is any left over, just add it to the Mill's Best Contribution.

If you don't mind, I'll be glad to get my old guitar out and play some rythm to you and Terri's lead. And Gary Labombard, our resident expert on the 6 string banjo should be available. I'm almost sure we can find someone to grab a comb and tissue paper and someone else to bang on a pot!

John and the gospel group should be here friday night so that you guys get a break, but I think they have to leave sunday morning to make a gig in another state by sunday afternoon.

Hurry down soon and safely!

May sit around and tell lies on Thursday nite....supposed to be just great weather for tellin lies and poppin tops!
Terri won't be down unitl Friday afternoon....I told her I'd try to have the sat dish set up by then....that gives me about 24 hours...more or less.  Huh

Hey JR, I wish I could afford the entertainment part, so far I've had 2 paid registrations! And since the news of possibly having a great Capt'n Ron Show I've heard even less about anyone coming than before when I was constantly bumpimg the event try'n to stir intrest in it! I dunno who all is planning to show and I'd love to be able to provide good entertainment, but if I can't get people to respond to the Capt'n's generous offer of showing up and doing a show for fuel $ I don't know what else to do! I'm not rich (as a matter of fact I have to pay a driver to run my bus [something I hate & and seldom do!] that week-end as Mom & Dad will be in East TN with one of their loyal sports teams) and I'm not putting this thing together to make $, I jsut wanna be able to pay for food, and goodies out of the $ generated! But I may have a plan that may work!  I gotta make some calls to a couple of places tomarrow! BK  Grin

For anyone that had not planned to show up for the T'ville gathering, we have a surprise we have been keeping a secret until now.  Dallas is going to do his version of the ballet Swan Lake.  For those that have already paid your deposit......too late dudes...... ya ain't gettin' it back, you are stuck coming to watch this production.  But there is a bright side to it.  For a $2 donation he will do an encore.  For $20 he will cease and desist, never more to do this again. BK, why don't you just bring yourself down here for the weekend?  If you have any friends that fly small aircraft, wouldn't be expensive or time consuming.  Think of it as business trip....a "business in-service"...you know...Special High Intensity Training....write it off your taxes.  If there's a better way to open a Cronie...we'll figure it out!
Bus rallys are waay too much trouble to promote!   I have promoted several Bluegrass festivals and have summarily retired from promoting anything.   If weather don't getcha, something else might.
Good luck with your rally...you never know how they'll turn out until they do!  Lots of folk won't RSVP...they'll just show.  Makes it sorta hard to plan.

Thanks Ace, I didn't think you would but with the mornings being really cool, I wanted to be sure we were able to have tons of coffee for Dallas.  He could drink that whole pot and then some every day.  LOL  I will have a smaller pot for decaf for anyone that prefers that.
I'm looking forward to hearing Susan play.  I have always wanted to play the fiddle so maybe I can hint for a short lesson to see if I have any talent hidden inside me.    Cat

We haven't forgotten....we were sorta counting on Susan's fiddle!  A harp is good too!
We aren't really a "band"...just weekend pickers!  Dallas may have overpaid us a little....??  Hey, that's entertainment!
There is going to be a real Pro Gospel group present.  Believe on Friday and Saturday.
Don't know if the new cruise control will work, but the bus still runs.

Lets see if I can get this to work right.

Here is an attempt at a map to show directions to the rally. Where you want to be is at #3 which is exit 150 on I-95 go west 200yds and watch for the dinosaur
When you see him, turn RIGHT.

If coming from Timmonsville on SR403, head east until just about 400yds before the freeway overpass and look on your left for the dinosaur. When you see him, turn LEFT.

Dallas,  Nice map!
Is there any cheap diesel fuel nearby?  It ain't cheap up here in NC yet.  As I remember, there was not any fuel at exit 150?
Got the bus all ready....sitting up here at the house.   I didn't know if it would start after messing around with the DDEC wiring.  Had a lot of goodies unplugged when installing the cruise control.  Hope that sucker works.  Be nice to have cruise.  If it doesn't work...install a Rostra I reckon.  Or see if I can figure it out.  Haven't found anyone familiar with a DDEC 1 cruise control...but?Huh

Later, JR

I don't know what to consider cheap anymore, but,

TA truckstop at exit 164 is 2.339 today.

Petro Stopping Center Exit 169 is also 2.339 today.

Pilot Fuel Stop Exit 164 is 2.319

Flying J, Columbia, I-20 Exit 70 is 2.329

Flying J, Rock Hill I-77 Exit 73 is 2.339

Flying J, Latta, I-95 Exit 181A is 2.299

Oh, and there is fuel right here on both sides of the freeway, but I haven't checked on prices lately.

Cat  (PS:  don't tell him I told you about this)

Aha! I caught you conspiring against me! Shocked Embarrassed Embarrassed
For everyones information, I promise I will not be in tights and leotard!
Mostly because my leotard has a hole in an uncomfortable place!
However, to save everyone from disappiontment, I do have a speedo that might not lok to bad! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
and I could possibly be talked into donning that regalia! Of course you have to consider, I'm 51 yrs old, 200 some odd pounds, and 5' 10". Now if an old fat guy in a speedo isn't a turn on, I don't know what is!

We will also have the GMRS radios set on channel 20.
Or if you need phone contact, cat will have the cell phone at 843.245.4351

So, now there is now excuse for getting lost or pasing up the dinosaur! Kiss
