I've got the rest my AD-2 rebuilt but now I am unable to get the check valve out. I've tried a breaker bar on the nut but it will not budge. What am I missing? I just want to be sure that these are actually serviceable? Here is a pic from the outside.

That thing is an air dryer? ha ha, I have one too and never paid any attention to it. Is it something I need to service? I guess that is what you are asking... I will wait on others  Smiley

TM,

They are serviceable; just threaded into the side of the canister. If it hasn't been removed in a while there is probably rust and corrosion involved. Some heat and penetrating oil should do the trick.

Once you have it out the body is comprised of two parts that are screwed together. You separate these to get to the valve's innards.

What are you trying to do Steve ? that is a integral check valve on a AD 2

Bob - Thanks for the info, I will give it a good soaking this afternoon.

Clifford - I am in the process of servicing my air drier, got the purge valve rebuilt and the desiccant cartridge replaced. When I tried to remove the check valve it would not budge even with a breaker bar! So I thought I would check in here just to be sure that the valve is removable before I screw something up! Anything else I should know other than oil heat and a bit more muscle?

I don't know if it comes out or not lol I never was able to remove one even with heat don't use to much heat it will warp the seat don't ask how I know that one

After soaking the check valve in penetrating oil for a while and heating it up, I got out the 1/2" impact and let it go to work. It took quite a while but finally the check valve came loose. As dry as those threads were it has never been apart. Now I can use the rebuild kit that I bought!

I could definitely use some 101 training. My other bus did not have such a contraption.
