My Datron DBS4000 was working fine and then it couldnt find the bird. It is looking (turning & trying to acquire the signal)
I dont have a clue how to troubleshoot this. Datron is sold out and no longer made, but I understand these are good units.
There is no dealer support. Anyone able to help with this? Thanks Chuck

While it may be obvious from this question that I don't know how to fix your problem, could you please tell me what the heck a Datron-DBS-4000 is and why it's looking for birds?

Maybe if you follow me around while I'm driving, it'll improve it's chances of seeing birds.

Gumpy must have heard of the school bus driver in the state of Washington that was fired for giving the bird to the president's motorcade.

Give Ron Brundage a call at RV-SAT-LINK

(888) 922-1501 or
(520) 907-2712.
His email is oldscout@one800.net.

He's a Datron dealer and a nice guy. If he can't help, you may be stuck.
He helped me with my old Datron system and later I bought a new dome from him.

Hey Chuck, you're in luck. There's a guy on the other board who has several of these defunct units for sale.  Seems to be a lot of money for an obsolete product, though.

Chuck

I have the DBS4800 (which is the low profile unit), not sure what the DBS4000 is.
I often have the unit not find the satallite after not using it for a while.
I need to recalibrte the compass, see manual at
http://www.asaelectronics.com/techpdf/dbs4800usersmanual.pdf?PHPSESSID=aa6ac6ed784f34ab2f498d365caa9061
This involves turning the power on and off 5 times (on for 10 sec off for 2 sec), then turning the coach in aleast 360 degree
a slow circle more is better (in 3 minutes).  then wait.  Also should either unplug the reciever or disconnect the attenna lead
to kill the voltage to the antenna.
This has worked many times in the past couple of years.
Good luck
