I was looking through a surplus site when I came across this.

http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=5786980&convertTo=USD  There were several more listed.

Is an engine like this ever a good deal, or does buying surplus end up being more expense and trouble than it is worth?

You never know about those engine it could be a minor or major problem they never repair one in a vehicle they exchange and send to different bases to be rebuilt regardless of the problem so they are not maintain good most have a shelf life of 2000 + hrs

You will see new or rebuilt engines for sale at some bases on that site, but those engines for sale now will sale as core engines and will popup on Ebay lol at a later date
