I have had my Proheat X45 sitting uninstalled since 2007.  I even sent it to Nick Badame to check it out in 2008.  Today I finally got the Proheat working.  All I have is the unit, expansion/buffer tank, and the main loop to the manifolds done.  The coolant in the loop does get hot like it should.  I still have to plumb up the heat exchangers so I can actually get the heat to the interior of the bus.

One issue I had was the flame went out for about half a second at a time quite a few times.  Is this just air in the fuel line purging out?  The flame always restarted right way, but a plume of smoke came out every time this happened.

That's not normal behaviour Brian.  I'm not sure what would cause it but I'm skeptical about the "air in the lines" explanation.  The way that system works is the pump delivers fuel to the pressure regulator where the fuel pressure is dropped to zero and then it is "lifted" into the combustion chamber by venturi action.  There's a really good troubleshooting routine in the owners manual - have you looked at it?

I haven't looked into troubleshooting since I was thinking the flame was going out due to air in the fuel lines from the initial prime.
