A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.

I was laughing out loud watching that. I never saw a tractor mover that fast before(excluding those special tractor pull types). That farmer must get his work done quickly. Just imagine how nice a DETROIT 8V would sound in that.

I don't see a happy ending here and I live smack in the middle of "hold my beer and watch this" country.
I've seen several "normal" tractors roll over.

That's a B21FT engine which is rated at 162hp with the intercooler (which he's using)! I had a 1985 Volvo 245 Turbo with that same engine. I modified mine to 250hp. It would out drag a 5.0 Mustang every time!

I went to see my relations in Wisconsin in 1962 (when I was 6). We were going down a farm road and right in front of us an International Harvester tractor pulled out with a V-8 in it. We clocked it at 70mph! Amazing what impresses a young kid and stays with you all your life. So you see, putting big engines in a tractor is not new thing.
John Deere had a model of tractor that had a 8V-71 from the factory. See it in tractor pulls. Good Luck, TomC

Are you sure about that Tom? Kinze did DD conversions on John Deeres but that's the first time I've heard they were available from the factory. Lots of weird stuff gets done to tractor pull machines.
(on edit) Google is my friend - just found a reference to a limited production run of 8020s built with Detroits. 6-92 NA maybe??

John Deere built the 8010/8020 with a 6-71 but I'm not familiar with a factory 8-71 Deere.

John Deere also built a model 435 with a 2-53 Detroit Diesel engine. John Deere only built 1 experimental tractor with the 8V71 engine, as far as I know, from reading the history of John Deere tractors. The article said that it is privately owned now. I can't remember the model number of it though.
As a side note, if you are ever in Waterloo, IA you can take a tour of the John Deere tractor plant by prior appointment. They also give tours of their engine plant too, just across town, by prior appointment. We did both tours in October. Very interesting!
Good luck, Sam

Also used the 2-53 in the 440 crawler ... lots of hours on those. I the hearing aids to prove it.
