A tour bus carrying women's lacrosse players and coaches from Seton Hill University crashed Saturday around 9 a.m. when it went off the road and hit a tree. Turnpike officials have confirmed that the bus driver, 61-year-old Anthony Guaetta, has died and several others were injured. Officials say Kristina Quigley, 30 died in the hospital. Officials say Quigley was approximately six months pregnant and her unborn child did not survive.
According to the Seton Hill website, Quigley was the head coach for the women's lacrosse team. The bus was chartered through Mlaker Charter and Tours out of Davidsville, Pa.
Megan Silverstram, a public safety official with Cumberland County tells News 8 that everyone on the bus was taken to various hospitals as a precaution. Three people were flown to the Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment of more serious injuries.
The lacrosse team was on the way to Lancaster for a 1 p.m. game against Millersville University which has been canceled.
The accident happened on the turnpike in Middlesex Township on Interstate 76 by Mile Marker 227.
The Department of Environmental Protection was on the scene of the accident because of the massive amount of diesel fuel spilled on the road.
