Rockin' garages: Music's best car collections
Arlo Guthrie
Arlo Guthrie digs his original 1954 Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabriolet, complete with the original owner's manual, but he'd sell it to get the money to restore his beloved 1969 Checker Marathon. He likes holding onto things; he's still got many of his tour buses. A 1972 Eagle motor coach he calls "Hanuman" was his home on the road for 15 years. It currently sits with weeds growing up over the wheels, keeping company with a rare 1954 GMC Scenicruiser he calls "Blunder Bus." "I'm not a real motor person," he admits, "but I understand how they work. At least I can add enough duct tape to get it going again."
Ill bet both of those coaches are for sale!!! Sounds like he could use the money...

Arlo Guthrie, Needs the Money? No offense but that's funny. Not only does he still create music for himself and others but gets Royalties off his Dads Music, You may have heard of him "Woody". Ah but that was the old days and many buses ago. Dave5Cs

I have a photo of both his Eagle and Scenic sitting together near wooded area. I think hew may have a "farm" in New England somewhere. I can post pix end of this week, or maybe search Google images. Both painted blue, I think.

I think that the farm is just down the road a little ways from Alice's restaurant.

Gentlemen - I say we invade. We can stay at OneLapper's, and use his bus - Arlo will never catch us with those 0-60 times.

James Brown's former Scenic was in Blytheville (PD4501-431) Belongs to Mike Lewis of Springdale, AR. (now painted grey with murals)
Either of Alro's buses would be cool to own. ( I love the Alice's reference !) I can't remember if I know the s/n on Arlo's 4501 or not. Anybody got his email? LOL

I emailed Arlo's record label yesterday! He's on tour until the end of May. Maybe I'll get a reply. I found the two buses on Google maps so they clearly haven't gone anywhere lately. At the very least I'll try to get the serial number. I offered to try to get it running for him, as well as explained the importance of his bus since it was used as his tour bus for years.
Would the Prevost have a white roof? Looks like a red coach parked behind his recording studio but it has a white roof.
BTW Tom, I got the book in the mail last week! Book is great but the post office darn near ruined it. I have the book between two plates of steel with a car parked on top. So much for "DO NOT BEND". Hopefully this weekend it'll lay flat again!!
