Had a call from a local junk buyer that bought PD4106-1997 for scrap.

He was wondering if I knew of anyone looking for a "good" 8V71, 3 spd trans or rear end out of an old GM bus.

He doesn't know much about the bus or what the drive train is worth but he is scrapping the rest of it. (already has scrapped bay doors etc.)

I told him I'd pass on the info.
So if any of you are looking for any of the stuff he told me he has (or any other parts you might need, just in case he still has them) give him a call!

His name is Roy Mullins he is from Cedar Grove, TN and his # is 731-845-4440

But I'd call quick because he's already been cutting on it!

3 speed?Huh?

Doug I just posted what the man told me. (don't shoot the messenger!)
It's probably a 4 spd, but he said 3 spd several times that is how I posted it.
(he doesn't really know much at all about it he found it sitting, contacted the owner by email, made a deal on buying it and now it's in his front yard being cut up as we speak type!)

I asked what model GM bus it was and he told me GMC.
So I then said I know it's a GMC. But what model?
He said about a 1980 something! LOL!
I told him no I mean is it a 4104, 4106, 4905?
He told me he had no idea just that it had a good V71 8 cylinder engine in it!
So I had him go find and read me the VIN and he told me it's a 1997 PD4106!
I said "I can assure you it's NOT a 1997 ! That is serial # 1997 and it's a PD4106 model GM."

I was going to call and ask if it has an uncracked rear window.  I think I'll pass!

OH and I figured out why he thinks it's only a 3 spd!
He probably thinks since the shifter only has 4 positions (H pattern) that one is reverse!  (not all of us know about reverse switches and solenoids!)

I was going to call and ask if it has an uncracked rear window.  I think I'll pass!

Can't hurt to call. I remember him saying something about the back window, but I don't remember id he said it was good or not! (he did say vandals had smashed all the others out!)
