Guys,

I just found out last night that the Pennsylvania DOT here in Wilkes-Barre was broken into.  Then, I found out today that the theives, terrorists, whatever...stole computers and equipment for making fraudulent drivers licenses.  Problem is, my wife's and my information was on those databases.  We both went in this month to get our new PA d/l.  Getting a freakin drivers license transferred is like trying to poke hot butter up a wildcat's rear-end with a blow torch.  We had to give them our social security cards (not the number, the actual card), our birth certificate and our home address (which they copied and kept the hardcopies).  Then, to top it all off, we had to pay with a personal check.

Bottom line...everything we are is in their database.  I called the PENNDOT and they told me that they would be issuing us new licences with new numbers.  On top of that, they offered to give us free credit reports for a year.  What the heck!?!

I feel violated. Angry Angry Angry

Jimmy,

I am so sorry this has happened to you. Must be very frustrating to say the least.

Don't forget to cancel all your credit cards. They might use that information to tap into your stuff.

Paul

I feel your pain. But on top of this. Everybody that has got a license from this office will face a real grilling when they get stoped! It will be impossible to tell hthe good from the bad.

On that same note,  (and since i just read the Kale report Cry)  Not only check your own credit but check your kids.

They don't tell you if you've got credit issues if your under 18.  and it's hard to dispute after you turn 18, easier to dispute before your 18.

So I heard anyway.

You really don't have to worry there in Pennseltukey.
If anyone was to steal your info , they will only buy a 12 pack.
Than the staties will find them and you will pay uninsured theft fees and all will be well.

ednj,

That reminds me of a very funny incident that happened to me.  I've always seen and heard jokes about the hatred or rivalry, whatever you want to call it, between New Yorkers and New Jersey ians (or whatever they're called.)

My wife, mother and I were sitting across from an old bus driver at the "Good and Plenty" in Lancaster, PA.  Great place to eat BTW.  Anyway, this guy was from New Jersey (or Jouzie as he called it) and we became instant friends.  Anyway, there was a sign up there that said, "Eat all you want, but you can't take it with you".  He looked at me with all sincerity and said, "Youse know why they have that sign up there?"  When I said I didn't, with deadpanned seriousness he said, "Because its the New Youirrkers!  They come in here and put the chicken in their bags, in their purse...they put the food in their pockets, everything.  They're all nutz!"

I still laugh out loud everytime I think about that.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
