all of the electrical stuff is located in the left hand driver panel or the compartment just aft of the Curb Side Drive Wheel.  and a few odds and ends in the engine compartment

I assume somone has told you to not use the fuel pedal so much to control the smoke.  At that altitude you loose about 20% of your engine performance so be extra soft on the fuel petal.  It will be a dog with or without the black smoke so save some money on the black Unburnt fuel.  My lights used to dim severely everytime my factory ac/heater blower motors would kick in. They pull lots of 12v juice.  Is that system cycling on and off causing a problem or short?

 Im not using the factory heating or cooling, and there going totally off for like 30 seconds then coming back on. Other times they just flicker on and off like a loose wire, but since it works more often than it doesn't Im thinking it isn't a loose wire?

Are you going to tow my bus back to St.Louis, so I can use the saved gas money to buy the new wiper motor, inverter, refrigerator, and satellite system I need for the bus?   Sad

The headlight factory wiring is very simple, no relays or fuses involved.  You can get a wiring diagram here:  http://manuals.lenstudio.com/GM_PD4104MaintX-5818.pdf

In the meantime, here is the circuit (assuming previous owners haven't screwed it all up)

In the drivers panel from Breaker 11 to term 21 to the headlamp switch.  From there back to term 62 or 82, can't read it.  From there to the head lamp/fog lamp switch and from there to the dimmer switch and on to the headlights.

So, does it do the same thing on high or low beam?  The problem is before the dimmer, if not, it is after the dimmer.  The dimmer switch itself is a likely suspect, it is a pretty harsh environment in the tool compartment.

My dimmer switch will cause the lights to go completely out if I hit it at the wrong angle. They have always come back on when I hit it the second time. It's been a long time since I have done a night trip. This reminded me to order a new one!

Those dimmer foot switches are very prone to rust, especially when not used for a while.

Having a pretty bus, as Scott's is, is great, But having dependable, fully functional house systems, and a mechanically sound bus is much higher on my list of importance. With our old buses it takes a while to get them into that condition and constant maintenance to keep them there. I know I enjoy working on our bus to keep it in good condition, and have most of the skills to do so, but not everyone does. Those who don't enjoy working on their buses or have the skills, will need to find a reliable person(s) to keep them up, and be willing and able to pay for their services.
