Some esteemed and well-informed members of this board are Freightliner experts...and I got needs related to my Freightliner steering column. Tom?
There's a small gizmo that looks like a brush holder (a plastic holder with a carbon brush, or spring loaded???) that attaches the horn lead to the steering shaft. I've never had that part, but would like to find a part number so I can order it. There's a copper contactor on the steering shaft that's visible thru a 1" hole in the column. Two bolts hold the assembly in place. I need whatever parts are necessary to be able to attach the horn lead to the side of the steering column.
My horn works off the turn signal stalk, but I'd like to get the steering center functional also. Not big on the "stalk" horn button.
I've been told that this steering column is a Century Class Freightliner assembly. It's a nice item...just missing this part. Has air powered tilt-telescoping feature.
May be something else...
I bought the column from Tom Hall. It's been in the bus for three years...no other problems....with the steering anyway.
