I salute all of the military people that is preserving our freedom and way of life.

I had two brothers in the South Pacific and another in Europe during WWII, how Mom & Dad endured the stress I will never know.

So unfortunate that today, 72 years later, Pearl harbor is barely a blip on the American Conscience.
It doesn't make the newspaper or Google News.  Probably half the population couldn't tell you much about that day.

They are training the new generation with all the new news stories. The newer generation doesn't live in the past as much as mine does.

I tried to explain to a niece who Nixon was when she asked. She truly didn't know. History in school has changed with the internet and news stations agendas to push for next elections. Most their age don't even pay attention to the government or past wars. They are more worried about who's on FB or Twitter. Look at the ads on TV it shows them that it is all about them and how to dress and what to eat etc.

Yes, sad day, 72 yrs ago, today I am guessing we will have another National Holiday to admire The African Mondella.  Not only has the Dec 7th gotten washed over, so is the holacost that Hitler did.
History seems to be  for the uneducated with short memories, maybe it is the new adjenda ?  When I am told America is not a Christian Country any longer, makes me want to reenlist in the USMC.

Not so long ago.  Barely 3 generations.  How history paints with such a broad brush.  What I find very scary is that there remains today a power base big enough and bad enough, (my opinion) that we are made to forget Pearl Harbour Day, but now need to remember Nelson Mandela--as he was most certain NOT.   Very scary indeed.  HB of CJ (old coot) Sad Sad

It's just the normal passing of time and how it impacts each generation.  I know that my grandfather would be appalled at how little I know about the First World War, the sinking of the Lusitania, and all those other things we have forgotten.  Others, if they were still alive would be sad the we don't "Remember the Maine".

It is unfortunate that Pearl Harbor is slipping from our memory, but it should not have anything to do with how we remember Nelson Mandela.  He will be remembered for far longer than any war and is in a class with Washington, Lincoln, Gandhi, King, and others who truly changed the world for the better.

Your classing and my classing are extremely different. I will stop there because I'm not going to change your mind and you are not going to change mine. Also, this will turn into a political discussion.

Yup, two things,
1st-USMC new covers do make me ill.
2nd-Too bad we can not disagree without it becoming a political mess, so guess the only answer is to give everything left to the too lazy & unwilling, called equalize everyone. Angry
