For every CD or Shirt I sell from my web site that goes through my PAYPAL account I will donate $5.00, for every thong I will donate $1.00 and every bumper sticker .50 cents to the fund and will transfer it through PayPal to whatever you set up. It might not be much but all I can do. I will do this through the end of the year and if succesful further if needed
Captain Ron

Along the same lines, for anything I sell from my Zazzle store: www.zazzle.com/chargeplus* from now until we close the paypal account for Dan, I'll donate 100% of the money earned. I can't guarantee that it will be much, but every little bit helps. Tell anyone and everyone you know about the site.

Cheers,

- John

John, I fixed your link....and placed an order.
Nick-

Nick, fixed it again. By putting the * at the end of the URL it changes the payout from Zazzle, but it doesn't affect the price you pay.

Ok folks. Now that everyone's up and awake, we need to decide on the keeper of the funds so Brian can activate the button.
What's your preference?
Ace, do you want to receive the funds directly?
Is there someone else who's close to the family?
Would you prefer I handle it and then transfer it all to Jack to be included in the funds collected in the rally? I can do that if that's what you guys prefer. I'm not at all concerned about the IRS.  Cheesy

Also, I removed the photos on the original posts, since they are copyrighted. I'm trying to get permission to repost them and use them in the donation page. The links to the two stories are still on the thread.

Brian, there's one more story link with more photos of the accident at the start of this thread which you might want to include on the donation page.

Uh hmm I really don't want to handle the funds if that's ok! I can give it to the family when the time comes but really don't want to be responsible for it while it grows!

Whatever you guys think is best i'm all for it!

Jennifer and I will donate.  You know, I've read a lot of posts saying that we should all be more careful, etc.  Sometimes, it doesn't matter how careful you are.  Accidents can happen (for whatever reason) at anytime to anyone.

Be safe everybody.

Ok. I'll do it. My paypal account doesn't get used much anyway, and is currently empty, so it's real simple to keep track of it.  Cheesy

When we get all the donations in, maybe I can just transfer it to Jack or someone else down there to put with the rally contributions and Ace can present it to the family.

I'll have Brian activate the button. Anyone who wishes to make a donation by other than paypal can send me an email for a snail mail address. Any donations by check will be deposited to my personal bank account and the money will then be transferred to the paypal account and mingled with the rest. Also note that paypal payments will incur a fee of about 3.5%. Money transferred from a paypal account balance or from a bank account also gets hit with a fee because I had to upgrade my account since they only allow you to do something like 5 transactions a year on a private account. I thought they were free, but turns out they're not on the upgraded account.

The button is live folks!

If you can give anything, please give.

Thanks to Craig for handling the donations.

Go ahead and email the link to family or friends that may not frequent this board, or might not share the same obsession we have with busses.

Ace,

Next time you talk to the family, can you ask them if thy have a recent photo of Dan and his wife that they can send to post on the donation page?  Would be nice if there were a face to go with the story.

Sometimes the best way to get an altered link to work is to just refresh your browser. I do this so often that I forget to tell folks about it. There's probably a way to tell IE to do this every time you click on a link... but it's probably buried someplace in the Prefs.

I tested the button in both Firefox and IE and it links to Craig's Paypal. Let me know if any other browser if giving problems.

It worked ok for me too!

I will see if I can get a picture from the family for the linked story!

Ace

Craig, thanks for doing this. Is there any way you can keep us updated as to the progress and amount generated like you did with the calculators? Maybe if more people saw how much it was growing, it work perk them to get it JUST a little bit higher!

Since I can't reply to the Donation topic, I'll say it here.

For those who sign in occassionally and can't wade through 70 posts to see what you're talking about, can you give a brief paragraph on the donation topic post (NOT HERE) describing what you're talking about? Just a brief description of the situation & call for donations. I vaguely know but can't read through five pages of stuff to figure out what you're doing or what your plan is.

I'll be happy to donate, but please tell me what I'm donating to!

Don't mean to sound crabby, just want to help you be more effective!
