Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

« on: August 04, 2007, 12:54:59 PM »

Hi folks, just making plans for Arcadia, will be the first trip down for us and have a few questions;
1; Bus won't be ready, bringing the travel-trailer.  Any W7E hook-ups?  IF no Sewer hook-ups, is the a dump station?
2; Is the agri-civic center a campground type situation, we are planning to come down the week before, thought Arcadia would be a good place to stay the entire time?
3; Baring the above, would we be better off staying at one of the campgrounds in the area and just visiting the rally?
4; Oh yeah, what are the dates for this year?
Thanks a ton...in advance!

:)Is Arcadia open to bus people to just walk thru or do you have to be camping? I am a long way from bus completion.

Although we haven't been able to make it to Jack and Paula's WAP, I'm sure you would be allowed to attend no matter what your condition is.
Some people stay in tents, some people rent motel rooms and (Horror of Horror's) some people actually bring a Stinkin' Staple.

Here at Union City, we feel the same way... We'll allow anyone that wants to to attend the goin's on at BK's Tennessee Bus Bash.
Maybe you should come down and enjoy the stories, lies, truth stretching!

September 6 -10th at Union City Tennessee!

I was there last year, and had a great time, even tho the SO wasn't feeling well on Saturday.  We flew from CA to Tampa, Enterprise provided wheels to Arcadia, stayed at the Holiday Inn Express (nice place, btw, and reasonable, too!), about a mile away next to a BIG Wal-Mart.  Got ribbed about arms being tired (old joke - "flew in from CA") by those who know me from the BBS's, but otherwise, welcomed warmly.  Even got to see the results of Gumpy's coach kissing a deer while enroute to the party!

There are about 20 electrical hook-ups for the early birds, otherwise it's dry camping (boondocking)

Don't remember if there's a dump station, but think there might be.  Jack will confirm.

Dates are New Year's weekend, easy to plan around.

Last year saw around 160 coaches and a smattering of S&S - well worth it for ANY busnut to attend.

No doubt Jack will be here soon and explain the number of full hook-ups, etc...but there are many.  There is a dump station and an area for partial generators and full generators.

The place was converted for many FEMA trailers shortly after the FL hurricanes a couple of years ago and the full hookups are 50 Amp.  We were there last year and will be again this year. Of course those with Handicaps will get a leg up on the full hookups.

Regardless it IS important to get your reservations in early. Last year there was, if I recall, 185 buses. S/S are welcome as well as travel trailers.  As long as you're interested in Buses...Jack will be happy to have you join the fun...and fun it was.

There's activities for the guys...plenty of Seminars and B/S sessions and the ladies have lots of things to keep them busy as well.

And Jack & Paula see to it that every morning there are plenty of (sinfully delicious) donuts and lots of coffee for the early risers.

Lots of impromptu jam sessions for those of us who plunk, twang or fiddle. And Karaoke With Bill, Gary and our fearless leader, Nick with all the volunteers available.  With luck we'll get some clogging lessons from Jack!  He's a terror!

Get those applications in early...space will be tight again this year!

The sites on the backside of the fence are all full hookups (water, power, and sewer).
The only problem you may encounter will be related to when the gates open for the rally campers.
The are no rules regarding what you camp in.  There are a lot of unfinished buses, and various RVs.   Seems as though all busnuts and wannabees are welcome.   It's a rare opportunity to see what you've gotten yourself into!  Wink
There will be a small non-rally in western South Carolina on the weekend of October 12.   If you're in the area, think of it as a warm-up for Arcadia.  There will be a smallish but enthusiastic group of bus owners with lots of good ideas.

Sorry for the delay in answering this, I have been pretty busy playing catch up since we got home.  We are finalizing the last details for Bussin' 2008. It will be held at the Turner Agri-Civic Center in Arcadia, Florida (same place as last year).  The rally will be from Saturday December 29 through Tuesday, January 1, 2008.  Early arrivals are OK, beginning on Wednesday, December 26.
We have about 50 sites with electric & water, some with sewer. There is also a dump station. They will be on a first come/first serve basis, once we make the announcement that we are taking reservations.  We do hold back a few of these for those with medical needs (such as O2 generator machines, CPAP, etc).
ALL ARE WELCOME!!  You are welcome to camp at the rally site in anything you want to camp in. Note: there will be PortaPotties, but there are no on site bath houses/showers. There are commercial campgrounds close by as well as motels for those that need them. If anyone needs additional information please feel free to call me or Paula at 863-nine-nine-nine-3683 or my cell 863-four-four-four-3400 or email me  jconradATrvbus.net
